Safety Camera Van to begin visiting A198, East Lothian
The East Safety Camera Unit will be commencing a short term deployment from the 1st April until 30th June 2019 on the A198, Dirleton. The safety camera van will be enforcing at this location to reduce speeds in an area where there have been four collisions, which resulted in one fatality.
East Safety Camera Unit Manager, Andy Jones, stated:
“The A198 is an extremely popular route, used by motorcyclists and cyclists. Due to the concerning number of collisions on this route, we will be enforcing in this area to encourage improved driver behaviour and compliance with the speed limit.”
Chief Inspector Stevie Duncan, East Lothian Area Commander said:
“Motorists driving above the speed limit are more at risk of losing control of their vehicle and have less time to react to changing conditions. The consequences of this can be fatal. We are simply asking drivers to adhere to the speed limit on this route, for the safety of all road users.”
