Travelling on the A9 this Summer? Dualling work continues …

Luncarty to Pass of Birnam

As work continues along the A9 between Luncarty to Pass of Birnam road users are advised to leave additional time to cover this section of road due to the additional traffic management measures in place.

Road users are advised that there are three planned overnight closures on the A9 north of Perth, between Luncarty Junction and the A923 Dunkeld Junction, northbound and southbound, between 8:30pm to 6am on the following nights:

  • Monday 29 July 2019
  • Tuesday 30 July 2019
  • Wednesday 31 July 2019

Diversions are in place and a map can be found https://www.transport.gov.scot/traffic-update/luncarty-to-pass-of-birnam-a9-dualling/

A temporary mini roundabout has been installed on the A9 south of Bankfoot South Junction and is expected to be operational until spring 2020. Transport Scotland anticipate that the mini roundabout will increase the average journey time through the works by around 15 minutes at peak times during the day. However, during the height of summer, these times may be extended by traffic attending events in the area. On approach to the roundabout a reduced speed limit of 30 mph is in place along with rumble strips and signage to alert drivers to the new road layout.

To allow construction works to continue a reduced speed limit of 40mph is in operation between Luncarty to Bankfoot where average speed cameras are in operation. These average speed cameras are operational 24 hours a day.
