A944 Kingswells fixed camera – Positive results as majority stick to the speed limit.

05/02/25

The fixed camera on the A944 Kingswells, Aberdeen started to enforce on Sunday 1st December and initial offence numbers are positive.

The location, which has been a core enforcement site for Police Scotland’s Safety Camera Unit since 2021, has now changed from a mobile location receiving visits from an enforcement van to trialling a fixed roadside camera, powered by solar technology. The fixed camera currently detects Eastbound traffic travelling towards Aberdeen.

Eric Dunion, Police Scotland Safety Camera Manager said ‘Since the fixed camera went live on the 1st December there have been less than 150 offences recorded, this is in contrast to figures received from the last speed survey, conducted before the fixed camera was installed, which highlighting over 900 vehicles a week were travelling at least 15% mph over the speed limit.  I would like to thank the vast majority of motorists travelling the A944 at Kingswells for adhering to the speed limit.'
