A96 Reminder
Police Scotland’s Safety Camera Unit would like to remind motorists to slow down, drive safely and help make the A96 safer for all users.
During 2021 and 2022 there was 44 fatal or serious collisions on the route, which runs from Aberdeen to Inverness. Many of those were contributed to excessive or inappropriate speed.
Eric Dunion, Manager of the North Safety Camera Unit said, ‘our aim is not to catch people out but to slow people down. Far too many collisions are occurring on the A96 due to inappropriate speed and unsafe manoeuvres. Going over the speed limit, passing that one extra vehicle, may save you a few moments on your journey but could cost you so much more.
We work in conjunction with our road policing colleagues to monitor and reduce speeds on the road’.
