April enforcement on the A93 at Drumoak, Aberdeenshire

During the month of April over 12 hours of enforcement was carried out on the A93 at Drumoak, by Police Scotland's North Safety Camera Unit, resulting in a disappointing 29 speeding offences.

The location has consistently seen a high number of offenders and high speeds since it was first brought to the Units attention in April last year. After an initial three months of enforcement a speed survey produced extremely disappointing results, with over 500 vehicles travelling at more than double the speed limit.  A further three months of deployment was carried out between October and December 2022 and a subsequent speed survey once again produced high figures of motorists not complying with the speed limit, 62.5% of vehicles were travelling in excess of the 30mph limit.

Before recommencing the current three months of enforcement, planned to run until the end of June, stickers were applied to resident’s wheelie bins reminding motorists of the 30mph limit in a bid to yet again slow vehicles down.
