Disappointing enforcement figures on A96 near Alves

A number of motorists didn’t adhere to the normal stereotype of ‘Sunday Drivers’ last Sunday 01/10, when they were detected speeding on the A96 near Alves, between Elgin and Forres.

In under an hour and a half 10 offences were detected by Police Scotland’s North Safety Camera Unit using mobile camera equipment positioned inside a highly visible enforcement vehicle.

Three of those vehicles were exceeding 80mph, 20mph above the single carriageway speed limit for cars, with one being detected at a staggering 100mph.

Notes:

Reports are sent to the Procurator Fiscal when excessive speed is recorded.

The location will continue to be visited during the month of October, after being identified as an area of concern due to high speeds and offender numbers being seen during the summer months.
