Flexible deployment location – B9077 Leggart Terrace, Aberdeen

Today marks seven weeks since enforcement began within the 30mph limit on the B9077 Leggart Terrace, Aberdeen.

Following concerns from residents and at the request of Aberdeen City Council, Police Scotland Safety Cameras commenced enforcement with a mobile safety camera van on the 1st August, in a bid to reduce vehicle speeds and make the route safer for all road users.

Over the last seven weeks 47 offences have been detected with speeds routinely being 50% over the limit and the highest recorded being 64mph.

Eric Dunion, Safety Camera Manager, said:  "The flexible deployment scheme allows us to enforce at locations of concern for an initial 3-month period with the aim of improving driver behaviour by encouraging motorists to slow down and drive within the speed limit.

At this halfway stage, we are disappointed by the level of offences detected at Leggart Terrace and concerned by the number of high speeds recorded in this 30mph limit.   The limit is there for the safety of all road user and we would urge motorists to travel within it.”
