New enforcement locations identified on the A9 near Dowally, at Tay Crossing to Ballinluig Roadworks

22/01/2026

At the request of Transport Scotland and Wills Bros., the dualling road contractors, two additional deployment locations have been identified within the 40mph roadworks near Dowally and enforcement has now commenced.

Eric Dunion, Area Manager of Police Scotland’s North Safety Camera Unit says; "As work has now started on the latest stretch of the A9 dualling, enforcement has now commenced to encourage motorists to adhere to the reduced 40mph speed limit. Reduced speed limits are in place for the safety of all road users and for those working on the A9 dualling project.  Initially enforcement will be from safety camera vans however this will move to a temporary average speed camera system in due course.

We have a number of average speed cameras and mobile enforcement locations along the A9 and I would encourage all motorists travelling this route to be aware of the speed limits in place for the vehicle they are driving."
