East Safety Camera Unit announces summer flexible deployment on B816, Allandale, Falkirk

Safety Cameras Scotland has launched a summer staycation campaign to influence driver behaviour and encourage everyone to “stay within the speed limits this staycation”. Summer driving hazards such as the presence of more vulnerable road users will be highlighted, while also emphasising the penalties of driving above the speed limit, in a social media and direct marketing campaign.

In conjunction with the staycation campaign, the East Safety Camera Unit will commence a flexible deployment on B816, Allandale, Falkirk, from 12 July 2021.

Safety cameras aim to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured by encouraging improved driver behaviour and speed limit compliance. This site does not meet the criteria for permanent camera enforcement, however it does meet the requirements for the flexible deployment scheme. This allows enforcement for a maximum of three months in high footfall areas, where active travel could be encouraged by lower speeds.

East Safety Camera Unit Manager, Michael Grant “Flexible deployments allow us to work in partnership with Police Scotland and local authorities to address concerns in areas that have a high footfall, where speed surveys have shown there is an issue with speed limit compliance.  The deployment should remind drivers that is vital to observe the 30mph speed limit, which will ensure all road users can travel safely”.
