North Safety Camera Unit announces flexible deployment on A92 Anderson Drive, Aberdeen

A new flexible deployment location has been identified within the 40mph limit on the A92 Anderson Drive near Seafield Road, Aberdeen.
Following concerns from residents and at the request of Aberdeen City Council, Police Scotland Safety Cameras will commence enforcement on the A92 Anderson Drive near the roundabout with Seafield Road with a mobile safety camera van from the 1st October 2025 in a bid to reduce vehicle speeds and make the route safer for all road users. A recent speed survey recorded that 11% of motorists were travelling in excess of the 40mph speed limit with 97 motorists recorded with speeds 20mph more than the speed limit.
Eric Dunion, Police Scotland Safety Cameras Manager said: "The flexible deployment scheme allows us to enforce at locations of concern for an initial 3-month period with the aim of improving driver behaviour by encouraging motorists to slow down and drive within the speed limit.
We know that the A92 Anderson Drive is a busy route often used by those commuting, travelling to schools, and by tourists unfamiliar with the area. Concerns over the levels of speeding vehicles have rightly been raised by members of the public and the local authority and this was confirmed with the recent speed survey which highlighted that 12302 motorists were travelling in excess of the speed limit in place.
Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Ian Yuill said: “The mobile safety speed camera should make a difference at Anderson Drive, a route which is heavily used by motorists getting around and through the city. Every driver should stick to the speed limit in the interests of other road users, including pedestrians. We all need to remember that speed kills.”
