North Safety Camera Unit review of A93 seasonal deployment.

This week marks the end of the seasonal enforcement on the A93. Since June enforcement teams from both the Dundee and Aberdeen offices have visited the seven locations identified by Local Authority and Policing colleagues with the aim of improving driver behaviour by encouraging them to slow down and drive within the speed limits. This deployment has been over the seasonal summer months when it is anticipated that the traffic flow would be higher and there would be an increased participation in active travel.

A total of 29 offences were recorded. With 18 cars, 10 LGV and 1 motorcyclist detected travelling in excess of the speed limit for their vehicle type. 14 of these offences were detected at the location near the Spittal of Glenshee Hotel with the fastest speed identified being 81 in a 60mph limit.

Eric Dunion Unit Manager of the Police Scotland’s North Safety Camera Unit says: “Every year we receive requests to enforce along the A93 due to the level of speeding motorists and bikers so this year alongside our road policing colleagues we have ensured that the route received targeted action. With only 29 offences detected it is really encouraging that the majority of those travelling have adhered to the speed limits in place and we would like to thank motorists for their compliance.”
