Red light camera to go live on A6106 Duddingston Park South, Edinburgh

19/09/25
A new red light camera will be operational from Monday 22 September 2025, on A6106 Duddingston Park South, at the junction with Duddingston Park, Milton Road and Milton Road West, Edinburgh.
Police Scotland Safety Cameras aims to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on our roads by placing cameras where there have been collisions, due to speeding or non-compliance with red-light signals. As a result of the annual site selection process, this junction was identified as a site that would benefit from enforcement, with 11 collisions occurring over a four-year period. A further red-light survey confirmed there was an issue with red light compliance, with 190 offences occurring over a 12-hour period, 53% of which occurred on Duddingston Park South.
East Safety Camera Unit Manager, Michael Grant said:
“The number of collisions and red-light survey results were concerning, particularly at such a busy junction which is often used by vulnerable road users.
“Failure to comply with a red light will result in a £100 fine and 3 penalty points on your licence, but this offence can a have much more serious consequences, which has previously been the case at this junction. It is hoped that the camera will remind drivers that ignoring a red-light signal is not worth the risk.”
Transport and Environment Convener, Councillor Stephen Jenkinson said:
“I welcome the decision to install a red-light camera at this location. Anything we can do to boost safety for all road users whilst encouraging motorists to drive carefully is to be encouraged.
“I’m grateful for the efforts of Police Scotland Safety Cameras on this and we’ll continue to work closely with them going forward.”
