Short term deployments to commence on A85

17/08/2023

Two short term deployments will commence on the A85 this weekend between Tyndrum and Oban in response to growing concerns of speeding vehicles from local residents and elected members.

Although the stretch of road does not meet the criteria for a permanent location, Safety Cameras Scotland identified two locations which would be suitable for short term deployments to assist in influencing driver’s behaviour- Taynuilt to Dalmally and Taynuilt to Connel.

Short term deployments are limited to a maximum period of one month and are available in response to emerging issues where the change in traffic behaviour has raised concerns. The mobile camera van will commence enforcement at the two sites over the weekend.

Alan Bowater, Area Manager for the West Safety Camera Unit stated ‘Speeding is known to be a contributory factor in many serious and fatal road traffic collisions. The visible presence of the camera van acts as a reminder to drivers to stay within the speed limits. We are simply asking motorists to know their limits and drive at a speed appropriate to the conditions."
