Three months of flexible deployment enforcement at Craigton Road, Aberdeen completed.
Police Scotland Safety Cameras have now completed the three months flexible deployment of mobile enforcement within the 30mph on the Craigton Road, Aberdeen.
Speeding concerns had been raised by residents and Local MP Steven Flynn and the most recent speed survey confirmed that 36.97% of motorists were travelling in excess of the 30mph speed limit.
During the three months there was 61 hours of enforcement which resulted in 146 offences. Of these offences 97 were to vehicles registered in the local AB15 postcode with 95% of those offences with vehicles registered to AB postcodes.
Mark Patterson, Chief Inspector Road Policing, said: "The flexible deployment scheme allows us to enforce at locations of concern for an initial 3-month period with the aim of improving driver behaviour by encouraging motorists to slow down and drive within the speed limit.
It is disappointing to see that the majority of those offences detected are to vehicles registered to local residents. To reinforce the messaging of the speed limit in place we have also supplied wheelie bin stickers which highlight the 30mph speed limit to motorists. We will now work with the local authority to conduct a speed survey to assess whether enforcement has been successful or whether other traffic calming measures need to be considered."
